It had to be expected some day, eventually. In fact, my immediate family had warned me several times, about the risks I was taking with my freedom of tone.
I have received threats, explicit and serious. I have irked some touchy and high-up people, who finally took notice of me. Naturally, I cannot say more. Therefore I find myself forced to permanently close my blog. This will be my last post.
And that's not all. Out of caution, I'll be leaving Lebanon as soon as possible, in the next few days.
I had considered going into hiding at the place of a fisherman friend, a nice Malian guy living in Timbuktu, where nobody would ever think of looking for me.
Unfortunately, following the recent coup in that country, my friend advised me to forget about Mali and try the USA. He himself just emigrated to the States, in a Calisota city called Duckburg.
But as Edmond Rostand would say, there's one thing that the narrow-minded primitives can never take away from me.

Il fallait s'y attendre, un jour ou l'autre. D'ailleurs, dans ma famille proche, on m'avait plusieurs fois mis en garde, des risques que je prenais avec ma liberté de ton.
J'ai reçu des menaces, explicites et sérieuses. J'ai déplu à des gens susceptibles et haut placés, qui ont fini par me remarquer. Je ne peux pas vous en dire davantage, bien évidemment. Je me vois donc obligé de fermer définitivement mon blog. Ceci est mon dernier article.
Et ce n'est pas tout. Par mesure de prudence, je vais quitter le Liban dès que possible, dans les prochains jours.
J'avais envisagé de me cacher chez un ami pêcheur, un brave Malien de Tombouctou, où personne ne penserait jamais à me chercher. Malheureusement, suite au tout récent coup d'Etat dans ce pays, mon ami m'a recommandé d'oublier le Mali et d'essayer les USA. Lui-même vient d'émigrer aux States, dans une ville du Calisota nommée Donaldville.
Mais comme dirait Edmond Rostand, il y a une chose que les primitifs à l'esprit étroit ne pourront jamais me prendre.
